Emily Williams launches single "Spellbound"
Bursting into the pop music scene after a stunning success on the mega hit show “Australian Idol”, Emily Williams hasn’t slowed down or looked back with one chart topping success after another.
Her fiery looks and deeply intense eyes draw enthusiastic fans from far and wide, forging the framework to showcase the powerhouse of a voice that lies within. Having shot to fame after appearing on the 2005 Australian idol series, where she achieved second place, Williams joined three other Idol contestants, Kate DeAraugo, Ricki-Lee Coulter and Paulini Curuenavuli for a national tour, releasing a cover of the Donna Summer hit classic “This Time I Know It’s for Real” under the brand “Young Divas.”
Their second single “Happening All Over Again” (a cover of Lonnie Gordon’s disco classic) peaked in the top five. Another Idol contestant, Jessica Mauboy, soon after joined the group which continued to enjoy huge success with hits including “Turn me loose” before these young divas decided to branch off and focus on solo careers.
Williams says “I don’t regret any of my time with the girls, it was such a massive learning experience for me and I wouldn’t give those days up for the world. I love them all so much and as busy as we all are, still keep in contact. Going solo has always been a dream of mine and I can’t tell you excited I am!”
After revisiting her hometown in New Zealand, Emily turned to writing and while she created
her own material she penned hits for many renowned recording artists both here in Australia
and internationally. “It was a really humbling experience for me, writing is something I never really thought I could do and was so thrilled to realise that I could add that element into my sound as well as for other artists.” Emily says.
With her unique sound, undeniable talent and passion for music, Emily is excited to release her first solo single “Spellbound” – Available Nov 1st 2010.
