UNDERSTATED PERFECTION

Located on the podium level of Rydges Hotel in the bustling entertainment precinct of South bank is the luxury new dining venue BACCHUS.

BACCHUS has an understated decor and a level of sophistication that is felt the minute you walk out of the elevator.

It was a 7.30pm Saturday night reservation and already there was a buzz in the bar as guests waited for their table.

As soon as we were seated our gorgeous waitress gave us an option of water selection, which was a first for me, it wasn't an ordinary selection either - still, sparkling or tap. We went with still. Then the next options came - NZ or Italian. With all these options, we knew we were in for a heavenly and luxurious night.

As we sipped on our water that had been naturally filtered over limestone rocks (oh yes, it keeps coming lol) I looked around the restaurant and started to notice the finer points...

The gorgeous hosts, wore clothed in stylish silk dresses with stiletto heel; The feature wall at the rear of the restaurant displayed like an open backlit book case with vases, statues and other random decor items; Tan leather throne style chairs through out the venue were stunning and gave it a stylish high end feel - all in all beautiful stunning venue.

A couple of options with the menu - a tasting menu which is a great way to sample the menu and perfect if you're out with friends for a few drinks.

Opting for the Pork Cheek to start, I was not at all prepared for what I was served. To say "devine" may sound a bit over the top but seriously, the meat was rich in flavour and the combination of the carbonara with the hens egg.

For main, I had the seared salmon on a bed of risotto deliciously crispy and perfect portion size.

As usual, even though I was thoroughly satisfied from my mouthwatering entree and main I HAD to make sure there was room for dessert and on recommendation from Arnaud, the Restaurant Manager, my partner and I decided to share the Sticky Date souffle and Chocolate Pear which was not only visually spectacular but a delight to the senses on so many levels.

The outside pool deck was closed the night we were there, however I can see this being the new place to be in Brisbane over summer for Pool Parties.

Sweet touches: Arnaud (Restaurant Manager) showing us a meat board with full details on cut; Steak knife selection (Gold star on this one!); Arnaud again showing us cheese
board with full details on maturity and origin; Offer of pashmina and Nurofen (I was incredibly sick and was coughing); Potato and Leek soup shot pre-entree.

BACCHUS Southbank is your perfect destination for dining, functions, drinks or even if you're looking for a fabulous stylish venue for your launch or photo shoot.

All in all, it was a wonderful evening with attentive staff - the place is run like a well oiled machine.

Mains $32-$59
Open for lunch

Highly recommended
