LUNCH WITH PETER FITZSIMONS

Peter FitzSimons is one of Australia's most prominent and successful media and publishing identities. His busy professional life involves writing weekly columns for the Sydney Morning Herald and Sun Herald newspapers and authoring best-selling books and presenter on the highly successful Seven Network's Sunday Night program.

He is the biographer of World Cup winning Wallaby captains Nick Farr-Jones and John Eales, former Federal Opposition Leader Kim Beazley, war heroine Nancy Wake, former Australian Test cricket captain Steve Waugh and magazine queen Nene King.

On Friday, Karen Phillips hosted a fabulous 2 course luncheon at Sofitel on the Gold Coast with Peter to launch his new book Eureka - The Unfinished Revolution.

Witty, straight to the point, honest and passionate, Peter gave an uplifting talk about his Rugby past, his writing career and his beautiful home life with Lisa Wilkinson and 3 children.

An incredibly educational and enjoyable afternoon. What stayed with me most from the luncheon was when he spoke of his favourite quote from Russian/American writer Vladimir Nabokov...

"The cradle rocks above an abyss, and common sense tells us that our existence is but a brief crack of light between two eternities of darkness. Although the two are identical twins, man, as a rule, views the prenatal abyss with more calm than the one he is heading for (at some forty-five hundred heartbeats an hour.)"

Peter wanted to make sure that his "crack of light" was a ''rainbow crashing into a kaleidoscope".

Love your work Peter x
