DIY JEWELLERY DISPLAY

Image
Sick of staring at all my jewellery scattered around my apartment in particular order, I decided to attempt a DIY project and re-create something I'd seen on Pinterest to store all of my fabulous accessories so they are on display and easily seen to style each day. Using a large frame from a old print, I hammered in nails along the length of the frame at distances suitable for earrings, bracelets and necklaces then secured 1.25mm wire around each nail to create a "clothes line" effect. Super happy with end result and it is a nice feature piece in my bedroom. Now there is no excuse for me to not wear all my beautiful jewellery.

MAC & BAIN

Image
Recently I put together a fashion parade at Southport Sharks as part of a partnership with Get it Magazine for a fabulous Melbourne Cup luncheon called Bubbles & Bling that was a sellout day. Click HERE for my previous post on Melbourne Cup Day I caught up with Alana McBain the designer behind Mac & Bain to get an insight into her label.        You showcased Mac & Bain at Gold Coast Fashion Week in February which was a huge success, how was that for you?       My experience with Gold Coast Fashion week was amazing. It was such a great opportunity for Mac & Bain to be able to showcase the 2012 'Promises' collection and reach a new audience since it is still such a new label. It is also fantastic to have such an important event for designers and fashion return to the Gold Coast successfully. ·          Mac & Bain has only been around for a couple of years, what made you decide to become a fashion designer?       I always wanted to become

THE CHORUS LINE OPENING NIGHT AT QPAC

Image
On Friday night, Leanne (Get it Magazine Publisher) and I headed to the opening night of The Chorus Line with thanks to QPAC for the invites . Both being huge fans of Broadway musicals, we were quite excited as we made the trip from the Gold Coast. Taking our place on the balcony seats, we had a spectacular view centre stage; Waiting for the show to start, the clarity of the singing, the quality of the band and the synchronisation of the dancing was phenomenal. At 2 hours and 5 mins with no interval, it was a long performance with (in my opinion) some solos and monologues that could have been cut from the show, but otherwise a magical night. I'm wearing a 100% silk kaftan from G & G on Chevron with earrings from Wild Bling .

AND THEN THE RAIN CAME...

Image
After a magnificent display of Gold Coast hot humid weather this week, I have awoken to a drizzly, overcast Saturday morning. Initially disappointed, I realised this was the perfect time to finish off my never ending "To Do" list and finish unpacking from the move... Yes, 3 weeks on and i'm still not full settled. Wish me luck...
