MARLIES DEKKERS @ QTFWA

Image
International Dutch lingerie designer Marlies Dekkers was the first show at QT Fashion Week and Awards. Having such a high profile label on the Gold Coast was fantastic to see and knowing her collection has graced the bodies of superstars of SJP, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Victoria Beckham and Dita von Teese to name a few it was great to see the Africa collection in full, really showcasing her concept "underwear as outerwear".

MAC & BAIN

Image
Recently I put together a fashion parade at Southport Sharks as part of a partnership with Get it Magazine for a fabulous Melbourne Cup luncheon called Bubbles & Bling that was a sellout day. Click HERE for my previous post on Melbourne Cup Day I caught up with Alana McBain the designer behind Mac & Bain to get an insight into her label.        You showcased Mac & Bain at Gold Coast Fashion Week in February which was a huge success, how was that for you?       My experience with Gold Coast Fashion week was amazing. It was such a great opportunity for Mac & Bain to be able to showcase the 2012 'Promises' collection and reach a new audience since it is still such a new label. It is also fantastic to have such an important event for designers and fashion return to the Gold Coast successfully. ·          Mac & Bain has only been around for a couple of years, what made you d...

MIJANOU - SWIMWEAR/BIKINI/LUXURY/RESORT

Image
A couple of months ago Karen Connell of Mijanou Swimwear launched her glamourous label at Komune Beach Club amongst oohs and aahs to the Gold Coast fashion elite. I was lucky enough to get this stunning one piece custom made and have a chat to Karen about her label, and here is what she had to say... www.mijanou.com.au After being co-creator of popular swimwear label Coco Riche, you’ve now started Mijanou – what’s it like to have sole control of your own label? Its great to have total control of where the label is going and how you would like to present it to the market. Im definitely less stressed  working on my own and eager to build the image to a unique and more high end but still glamorous look . How long have you been designing? Well I grew up in a family that starting making fashion and selling at markets when I was 12.  They worked from home so I was very involved with helping out. I made my first pattern and garment , a chambre ...

RUNWAY EXPRESS EXPERIENCE - WORKSHOPS

Image
Runway Express Experience is such a unique concept and very different to the “mobile makeup artists” that you might think they are. In the comfort of your own home, stocking and selling the entire range of Napoleon Perdis Cosmetics they exemplify his motto of “transform runway to reality”. Gold Coast Fashion Week - Nicola Finetti Conducting Workshops, Makeup Parties, Events, Corporate Team Building, Beauty Bars, Makeup Master Class and Freelance work the girls at Runway have got everything covered. So what does the Runway Express Experience entail?  Unlike going to a makeup artist studio where you hand over over your money and sit down while you get beautified, the amazing thing about Runway Express is that they actually teach you how to apply the makeup yourself. Step by step, they go through in front of your own mirror and guide you on how to create your chosen look while you do it yourself. This ensures that when they leave you are fully confident in the ability to...
