My Gasoline Rainbow

Well it's upon us again, (my how time flies) but this year my involvement is limited to that of a Blogger. Being involved in an event like this is such an incredible experience, and if you're interested in being in the fashion industry in any capacity I highly recommend you volunteering.  Apart from getting hands on experience and getting the opportunity to learn and meet from some of the best creatives and designers in the industry, it's money can't buy cred for your Resume! Unfortunately, last year my involvement was hindered by some personal issues which caused severe stress and triggered my Bipolar and I was unable to finish my role as Official Blogger, which was devastating to me as I had worked hard and was excited to be part of the QTFWA 2013. At the time, I was still keeping my illness secret so it was even harder. After viewing Damsel in this Dress at the Up and Coming designer’s show at Gold Coast Fashion Week last night, My Gasoline Rainbow is proud to introduce the local label to our readers. Damsel in this Dress is the creative outlet of designer Melina Hollway, a self-taught creator with a unique vision. Located on the Gold Coast, Melina says she draws her inspiration from the “luminous tropical surroundings to the far removed dark and mysterious romantic scenes of the back streets of Paris”. A creator at heart, Melina highly enjoys experimentation and the effect this has on the evolution of her label. Engrossed in her vision, Melina regularly hand makes her designer garments and striking jewellery pieces. This flirty and feminine label has recruited an army of followers, which will ensure Damsel in this Dress continues to storm the runways for years to come.  To see images from her runway show click here
